Released October 18, 2026.
You save a Collection of tabs for a reason, and a few weeks later the reason is gone. You remember the name, but not why those twelve pages belong together. You end up opening every tab just to find out.
TabBud 2.4 fixes that. Every Collection with 3 or more tabs now opens with a short AI summary: two sentences under the title on what the Collection is about. AI summaries are included on every plan, Free too.
What a summary tells you
Each summary describes what the Collection is about, not what’s in each tab:
- The topic: what ties the pages together
- The kind of pages: documentation, articles, product pages, research papers
- The sites that matter: the domains doing the heavy lifting
Summaries are written in the language most of your page titles use. Each one is tinted with its Collection’s color, so it reads as part of the Collection rather than a banner on top of it.
It keeps itself up to date
You never have to press a button:
- Add, remove or edit tabs and the summary catches up on its own, at most once a day
- New Collections get their first summary within about an hour
- If nothing changed, the summary stays exactly as it is
Collections with fewer than 3 tabs, and the Browser Bookmarks view, have no summary block.
Write your own instead
The AI’s version is a starting point, not the final word:
- Click the pencil next to a summary.
- Write your own, up to 1,000 characters.
- Save with ⌘/Ctrl + Enter, or cancel with Esc.
Your summary always wins. It stays put even when the Collection changes. Changed your mind? Use AI summary brings the AI version back.
Regenerate on demand (Pro)
Pro members can rewrite a summary instantly with the regenerate button. They can also generate a summary right away for a Collection that doesn’t have one yet. If nothing has changed since the last summary, TabBud tells you it’s already up to date instead of rewriting it.
Pick a look
Choose how summaries appear in Profile & Settings → General → AI Summary Style:
- Outline (default): a thin ring in the Collection’s color over a soft wash
- Filled: a gently tinted panel in the Collection’s color, with no ring
Your choice follows you across devices.
Subtle, not distracting
When a summary scrolls into view, its words fade in one by one, followed by a single shimmer. Then it stops: nothing loops. If your system has Reduce motion turned on, summaries simply appear.
Shared Spaces and offline
- Everyone a Collection is shared with sees the same summary, and read-only viewers can rate it too
- Rate any summary with 👍 or 👎 to help improve them
- Turning AI summaries on or off updates every open TabBud tab instantly
- Offline, the summaries you already have keep showing. Rating, editing and regenerating come back when you’re online
Where summaries help most
- Research Collections that grew over weeks: the summary reminds you what question you were answering
- Client Spaces you return to after a break: get back up to speed without opening a tab
- Shared Spaces: teammates see at a glance what a Collection is for before they dig in
